Spring Into Beauty Trends!

Ah, spring.  The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming, and the sun is shining.  It is the official end of the chilly, winter days. In the middle of January, it is painful to even think about breaking out our spring attire during these cold months.  The thought of our bare legs being exposed to the icy winds of winter sends chills up our spines.  However, it’s much less painful to break out your spring make up!  Here are a few ways to bring a little springtime to your winter days.

On the runway, many spring collections featured a bright lip.  Models lips were seen painted bright shades of fuschia, coral, purple, and red.  Marc Jacobs’ 70’s inspired collection was paired with bright lips in shades of purple and coral and dark eyes to create a groovy, sultry palette.  Diane Von Furstenberg’s spring/summer 2011 collection featured models with bright pink lips and a clean, bare face.  Some models wore dark, circle shaped sunglasses and paired with the bright lips, the look was effortlessly cool.  Models at Alice + Olivia’s spring/summer 2011 showing wore bright orange lips and paired again with a clean, bare face.  Alice + Olivia’s youthful collection went perfectly with the fun look.

Which leads me to my next make up trend for spring: a flawless, clean face.  Jenn Hix, make up expert at Sephora, said,

“It’s definitely going to be one of the biggest trends for the season, like that natural, radiant beauty.  It’s definitely been a big trend in the last couple of years.  I think it will never go away.”

Another big trend for the spring are flushed cheeks.  At Michael Kors, models looked as if they just went running in a field in his collection with their perfectly disheveled locks and flushed, pink cheeks.  Paired with the beautiful neutral palette of his collection, the pink cheeks and light, bronze eyes looked fresh.  At Thakoon, the models looked sun kissed with a bronzey, peach cheek and clean face.

Going along with the bright lips this season, the bright eye was everywhere on the runways.  At Derek Lam, Estee Lauder Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux and a team of 14 make up artists lined the models’ eyes with an orange liner and winged it out at the side.  At Jason Wu, the models’ eyes were framed with vivid shades of blues, greens, and purples.  With the slicked back, braided up-do the models wore, the smokey technicolor eyes looked elegant.  At Peter Som, the models’ eyes were lined with a bright yellow eyeliner, much like at Derek Lam.  The yellow popped out from the neutral palette of the face.

Remember: It’s never too late, or too cold, to bring a little pop of color into your life.
